Welcome to the Sydney Musical and Opera Society (SMOS), where artistry, passion, and community come together to celebrate the magic of live performance. Founded with a vision to provide Sydney’s vibrant creative community with a platform to showcase their talent, SMOS is dedicated to producing high-quality musical theatre and opera that entertains, inspires, and uplifts audiences. From timeless classics with a focus on works from the golden age of Broadway our productions are a testament to the rich diversity and artistic excellence of our performers, crew, and creative teams.

Our society is built on the principles of inclusivity, collaboration, and education. We aim to nurture talent at every stage of development, offering performance opportunities that empower our members to grow both personally and professionally. We look to combine seasoned artists with young up and coming performers to provided them with real-life experience in high quality productions.
As we embark on this exciting journey, we are thrilled to announce our debut production: a spectacular presentation of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s timeless classic, Carousel, to be performed aboard the iconic Cunard Queen Elizabeth in February 2025. This production will not only mark a significant milestone in our society’s history but will also set the standard for the quality, creativity, and professionalism we aim to bring to every performance.
